Connect

Join you local community group sports club or societyThere is no doubt that connecting with others makes your life a great deal more enjoyable and being with other people makes you feel good and is simply better than most other solutions that have to be found as a result of things like depression and loneliness.

The average adult in the UK is a member of three groups, whether these are sports clubs, or sports supporters or players. Social groups such as dance, yoga, book club, church, school, charity are the most popular - some can be local and others might be a national organisation with a local group.

Membership of any of these groups can be, in itself, a rewarding experience, learning something new from the other members, widening your knowledge or joining in with a group because the activities you enjoy are more fun and safer in a group.

Once formed, connecting your community group to others in your local area creates other avenues of contacts. If your group frequents the Community Centre, you may only know the other users from their posters on the notice boards or when their events clash with yours.

Using your contacts to widen the number of connected groups will help you in other areas and research has led us in the direction of trying to make sure the local community engages with as many people as possible. The provision of community facilities has increased over the years but unfortunately they are still not always fully utilised.

Community Hub is a tool that can help Community Organisers and Facilitators to engage with a wider audience, bring them to more events and encouraging the individuals to participate.
